IN THE 1970s, a Cambodian father perished at the hands of the Khmer Rouge, leaving only a diary behind. We got a chance to partner with Nick’s former colleague from AP’s Asia Bureau to produce this video and interactive package. The Last Word explored this man’s personal struggle, while examining the little-known historical context and brutality of the Cambodian genocide.
